Professional Dog Trainer Mentorship Program

Mentorship for Professional Dog Trainers.

Dogue Academy school crest

This mentorship is designed for dog trainers who want to move beyond food-dependent training and develop dogs who think, adapt, and engage willingly.

The format is a one-on-one mentorship with individualized guidance and feedback.

You may feel stuck repeating the same exercises, struggling to generalize behaviours, or unsure how to build true engagement without relying on lures.

This program will teach you how to train through observation, timing, and relationship, using social cognitive learning and lure-free approaches.

This mentorship is for you if:

  • You feel limited by food-based training
  • You want to understand why dogs learn, not just how
  • You value trust, consent, and relationship in your training
  • You want practical, hands-on learning, not just theory

This mentorship is not for you if:

  • You are looking for quick fixes
  • You rely heavily on tools or coercion
  • You are not open to changing your training approach

Professional Dog Trainer Mentorship Goals

For dog trainers who want to deepen their skills through hands-on, practical and theoretical learning, with a focus on social cognitive learning and lure-free approaches.

By the end of the mentorship, you will:

  • Deepen your understanding of learning theory as it applies to dog training, with an emphasis on social cognitive learning
  • Design and implement effective lure-free training protocols
  • Build secure, trust-based relationships with dogs, grounded in consent and emotional safety
  • Apply situated learning strategies to help behaviours generalize across real-life contexts
  • Develop and implement behaviour modification plans
  • Coach clients with clarity and confidence
  • Strengthen your communication, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making
  • Build structured case files to support your work
  • Develop a reflective training practice based on observation, timing, and critical thinking
  • Gain confidence as a trainer while supporting secure attachment and adaptive problem-solving in dogs

Mentorship Style

This mentorship is not about giving you fixed answers. It is about teaching you how to observe, think, and adapt so that you can become independent in your training.

You will learn how to read dogs, adjust your timing, and make decisions based on what is happening in front of you.

Mentorship Session Breakdown Example

The mentorship is a one-on-one program, which means we can tailor my expertise to your needs.

The following is an example of a program design that I can create for you.

Week 1: Introduction & Foundations
Week 2: Canine Ethology & Body Language
Week 3: Learning Theory Refresher + SCT
Week 4: Lure-Free Training Methods
Week 5: Husbandry Training
Week 6: Situational Learning & Context Generalization
Week 7: Behaviour Modification Through SCAT*
Week 8: Attachment, Trust, & Communication
Week 9: Mentee Project Development
Week 10: Wrap-Up, Reflection, & Next Steps

Training is not only about behaviour; it is about relationship.

When a dog feels safe, understood, and engaged, learning changes. The work becomes less about control and more about connection.

This mentorship is built on that belief.
